All Moved In!

It's been well over a month without a single post. It's been a very busy month! We closed on our beautiful new home on October 22 and started moving in the next day. We've moved a lot in the last 5 years and I've always been pretty on top of things and ready to roll up my sleeves and go, but somehow this time I couldn't do anything but just stand there and stare. I was completely overwhelmed by everything that needed to be done. Fortunately my husband was a working machine! Seriously he didn't stop of days and seemed to have endless amounts of energy. I just sat and watched him. The only thing I truly unpacked was the kitchen.

We've been living in the house now for a month and we love it! It's huge! Which has been an adjustment for us. The first few days of living here I remember how annoyed I was with having two stories b/c as soon as I'd go downstairs I'd hear my cell phone start ringing upstairs. But we've adjusted to it now and I just try and focus on the extra calories I now burn each day going up and down the stairs.

The favorite room in our house by far is the playroom. It's the perfect size! And to think we actually shrunk it on the blueprint by two feet to make the bedroom and bathroom that share a wall with it larger. What a great move because two more feet of playroom would have made it just gigantic and would have made furniture placement more difficult. We spend the majority of our time in this room. ALL of Cadens toys are here and the rule is that they stay here, or at least upstairs. Also, the only working TV in our house is also in this room. Of all the rooms this is the most put together. I took a few pictures of it two weeks ago, although it's changed a lot since then. Unfortunately our camera broke and we're in the process of trying to get a new one so there won't be "new" picture for a while.

The downstairs is coming together slowly but surely. The kitchen is also awesome! We still have empty drawers and cabinets! The living room posed a bit of a challenge at first because we thought we'd arrange it a certain way, but that way did NOT work out at all so we've been experimenting with different ways to arrange the furniture. We still need a run and our curtains are on order and should be here next week. We have temporarily put our old rug that is too small in the space, but have it upside down as we shop for a rug pad (it'll go in our entry foyer most likely). I bought a rug pad but it was just awful with a strong smell and a warning label on the package that in the state of California it has been knows to cause cancer, birth defects and reproductive harm. Yikes, don't care to have that in my house... so we returned it and are looking for a more environmentally friendly rug mat. Suggestions?

Caden's favorite part of his new house is probably that his best friend lives right next door. Several times a week we all end up in the driveways playing together. It's funny because the boys are always in each others garages. As soon as they see each other they make beeline for the garage of the other home (Will to Caden's and Caden runs to Will's) to get their toy of choice for the afternoon. It's really quite funny.

We absolutely love our new house and know that we are so blessed to have such an amazing place to call home. God has been so good to us, but he would still be good even if we had to give this beautiful house up. It's just a temporary dwelling place here on this earth and we're grateful for each day we get to spend calling this place home.
