One year ago...

This was my second week in Korea one year ago! Yes, November 4th marked the anniversary of our arrival in Korea last year! It's so hard to believe it's been a year already! I was sending out "Update Letters" (here and here) at first, but I decided to start blogging more regularly instead. So, for those of you who've been wondering about us and what we've been up to for the past year you can find out by searching through our blog archives!

When we first came to Korea we were living in an off-base Korean high rise. We loved our apartment, but we finally got orders to move on base in July. I think we moved in around July 24th, which was a welcome relief to us after paying for the summer A/C in the Korea place. It was a significant downsize for us to move on base (from a 3-4 bedroom to a 2 bedroom), but it's just so much more convenient! We love our new apartment, too!

So, the big news we have to share at this time is that if all goes as planned, we will be separating from the Army and returning to Huntsville in the Jan/Feb time frame. This means that we will be trying to find a job in Huntsville, maybe buy our first home, and stay put for a long, long time! No more military moves every 1 to 2 years! We are really excited about this big step, but also very nervous to be leaving a lifestyle that we've really come to love and enjoy. There is a lot about the military that we will greatly miss!

Most of you have heard this news by word of mouth, but for those who have not heard yet we thought it was time to announce it! As our tour here in Korea comes to an end in just a few months, we've been busy trying to take in as much of Korea/Asia as we can before we leave. We've got China and Thailand trips planned in the near future, we bought some Asian furniture as a keepsake, and I'm busy making lists of all the things I still want to do before we leave!

Our time in Korea is not over yet, and I'm glad because I'm not quite ready to say goodbye right now. Maybe in a few months I'll be ready, but I know I won't leave this country without shedding a few tears. It's been a great experience living here! Stay tuned to our blog to see how we spend our remaining time in Korea!!

Wow.. what big news! I bet your family will be so happy for your return. I always wondered how long your stay would be but never wanted to ask. It must be so much fun living in such a diverse place. I would love to visit one day. I guess yall got use to that weird smell when you first moved in, hehe. Have fun with your last few months and hope you share them with us. Take care~

Wow...those months will fly by. My advice is to start your final shopping early. Sometimes it takes a while for things to come in, and you don't want to be running around like crazy your last week.

Can't wait to hear more about your trips. We are really glad we did so much traveling while we were there.
