Looking back

This exact day last year was when we found out we were having a little boy! It is crazy to think how much has changed in a years time! The biggest change of all is of course our son, Caden. He is also officially 8 months old today, too!

He is a rolly-polly these days (both standing on sitting/laying down). He just won't stay still. On the changing table or when playing on the floor he flops around from one side to the other reaching for everything. If you hold him in your arms he has to twist and turn to look in every direction and to grunt and reach for anything even remotely close to him. If you stand him on your lap he does the same thing: twisting, turning, reaching, exploring. It makes me cringe to think about trying to fly with him in my lap at this age! I suppose then we are lucky we aren't going anywhere any time soon!

Caden is still eating and sleeping on the same schedule. He's been having a hard time at night a little though because he is coming unswaddled. I am SO ready to stop swaddling him, but he just can't sleep with his arms loose. I need help! When his arms come out, he starts flapping them around and talking, so I go in his room and tuck them back in and he instantly turns his head to the side and falls back asleep. He's so squirmy! Any advice on how to get him out of the swaddler??? People here keep telling me he won't want to be swaddled when he learns how to sit himself up and/or crawl and move around on his own.

Caden is babbling more than ever these days. His favorite thing to say is still, "Bah, bah, bah," but he did add a little "aye, aye" in there recently too. As I mentioned in a previous post, he has a cute new smile where he scrunches up his nose and shows his gums. He is still trying to up himself up to a standing position in his playpen so I had to turn it where it faces a wall so he won't fall out! If you sit him in front of the coffee table he puts both hands on the ledge and fusses because he can't stand himself up but wants to get all of the "stuff" off of the table. You have to be careful with Caden now. If you think something is out of his reach, he will find a way to get it! He loves to go for anything around him that is not meant for babies (cords to laptops, the laundry basket, the computer mouse, and he has a special thing for my house shoes). He is loving his walker and goes all over the house in it. I just can't believe he is 8 months old! It makes me sort of sad. He is growing up too fast!

hey! love catching up on what's going on. we're scoot-crawling now! he'll go across our den pretty quickly. we're starting to look at baby-proofing stuff. we're also trying to pull up- he can pull up from tummy position with using our hands. he pulls himself to his knees then puts his feet under him . hasn't done it in the crib or playpen yet. the only worry i've had is that he's not babbling much. sometimes he says what sounds like "hey" but other than that it's just screaming and squealing.

i really really promise i'll call soon!!!!
