Weight Check

Caden went in for a weight check yesterday!! He gained over a pound in just a week!!! It was amazing! The first week he was on the cereal he only gained 3 ounces, bringing him from 11 lbs 12 oz up to 11 lbs 15 oz.

Today he was a whopping 13 lbs 2 oz!!!! He skipped twelve completely! (Well, at least in terms of us never getting to see the number 12 in the 'pounds' section on the scale). I've been telling John all week that Caden seems heavier to me when I go to pick him up. It is almost surprising when I reach for him and expect him to be lighter than he is... Now I know it's because he managed to gain an entire pound in a week! That is a lot for a little baby! Unfortunately, his spitting isn't getting any better at all...but he's gaining weight so we will keep doing what we are doing!!!

Caden stopped sleeping through the night for us when we got to Korea... well before we got to Korea actually. He stopped sleeping through the night when John came to Huntsville to get us! The last two nights have been awful! He has been waking up several times a night. Last night was BETTER than the previous and he still was up at 9:30, 11:30, 3:00, 5:30, and we got up for the day at 7:30... I am really tired! It's like I have a newborn all over again!!!

I asked the doctor on Thursday about letting Caden cry and not going in to feed him when he wakes up at night and the doctor said that he has reached the point in both age and weight where that would be acceptable! So once the crib gets here (looks like end of December unfortunately), we are going to have a major transition! He will go from sleeping in his car seat every night (which I found out works VERY well for reflux babies and he's been in it since he was 5 weeks old for every nap and night...well, other than a brief trial in the bassinet that didn't work when he was 12 weeks old)...

Anyway, we will go from the car seat to the crib, AND we will unswaddle him to put him down (he's been swaddled at night/naps since he was 4 days old), AND we will not offer him feedings at night!!! Pray for us as we prepare for this adventure!!!!
