1) if we wanted to build we needed to start the process early
2) if we didn't want to build we wanted to wait a few months to buy a house....
But we had to start looking to decide if building was in our future or not... it didn't take long and we knew without a doubt we wanted to build! Then it was deciding what to build, where to build, what "upgrades" can we afford, what can we do without, etc...
It has been a very fun process, and at times a little stressful. As of right now we're waiting for them to break ground any day (drum, drum, drum go my fingernails as I anxiously wait!). Here is a picture of us on our future lot and then a little sample palette of our brick, mortar, siding, and trim colors.

I know right where that lot is and the surrounding view is so great!! Building can be frustrating and waiting is no fun but it'll be over one day and you'll have your first new home!
