Diaper Troubles

This weekend the Koreans are celebrating Chusok. It is a holiday most closely compared to our Thanksgiving. It stems from the old (but still practiced by some Koreans, just not all anymore) Confucian belief system that worships the ancestors of each family. I blogged before about the burial mounds (here). Well on Chusok everyone returns home to be with their families and they all go to the mounds to worship the spirit of their deceased ancestors. They have rituals and special foods they prepare as well. It has been said that driving on the Interstate system here is insane on Chusok weekend. It can take up to 24 hours to make the 5 hour drive to Busan. Many Christian families who no longer follow the Confucian belief still participate in Chusok, although they no longer worship the ancestors, they still visit the grave out of tradition to pay their respects. Everything is closed, as everyone is home with their families, feasting and celebrating together.

So, does this have to do with diapers? Well, would you know I was setting things up for our Sunday night babysitter (while we go to Bible Study) and I realized we are OUT of diapers. It is Chusok... NOTHING is open! How dumb am I to run out of diapers on the Korean equivalent to THANKSGIVING!

So, I had to call in reinforcements and borrow some diapers from a friend. Thanks Amanda! :)
